Culver Farms - Food Production
 
A paper-oriented fresh food produce,
distribution and invoicing system needed
rationalising to cope with the increased volume
of business. An automated database system was implemented bringing many benefits to the business. For example it reduced administration costs, deliveries are reconciled with invoices, haulage cost are reconciled with deliveries, and the GKN pallet hire account can be audited.

The development of a production line monitoring system increased daily output dramatically. Bar-coded and electronically generated information from the production lines is captured in a database allowing individuals' performance to be monitored. On the spot quality control is now possible assuring a better product delivered to the customer? Collection and analysis of this additional information enabled the introduction of an easily administered piecework payment system for the seasonal workers. This significantly reduced the unit labour costs and the time taken in processing the products. This increase in efficiency means the business can continue to grow in a very competitive marketplace.

Further development of the system will track food products from field to retailer and gives invaluable information on crop performance.

Albert Vinson Ltd - Produce Distribution
 
Replacing a paper-based administration
for a fast expanding company was essential.
Closely representing the existing system this
application tracks consignments and their makeup
of fruit and vegetables for re-distribution to markets and superstores. Much of the trading is for third parties; consignment processing and handling costs are tracked and automatically allocated to their owner and invoiced. Loading sheets delivery and distribution notices are produced for the depot staff and hauliers, ensuring fast and efficient distribution. Production of trading information, stock statements consignment progress is automatic and available on demand.

The 1999 government's legislation for asylum
seekers entering this country requires concise
and accurate records to be kept; so an automated
database solution was required. Being advised by 
the agency staff a database system was developed to
manage all the information required by the agency and for the
      Home Office.
With a short development period before 'going live', we needed to implement a scaleable database that can be further developed to suit this ever-changing legislation. This has been achieved and we are now able to add significantly to the existing solution without disruption to the current live version. Statistical reporting and flexible management of case histories are essential if the system is to work and we are able to address this and all that is required by the Home Office, and before delivering the first quarter statistics.

Refugee Arrivals Project
 
The Refugee Arrivals Project personnel assist asylum
seekers arriving in this country. A database was built to
store and organise the required information in an electronic
format rather than paper. Enabling the staff to access and use this
information has improved the ability of the agency to provide front line services with greater effect and efficiency. The system is now mission-critical; improving the ability both users and administrators alike to take good care of the people they support and also in their ability to provide important statistical and management information to support their organisation as a whole. The current database and application can be re-sized if necessary enabling the agency to grow and increases the services it offers.
